Donnie Tapp

Donnie Tapp grew up in Eastern Idaho, where he learned to appreciate the beauty of the rural
landscape and the character of the many small towns in the area. As a youth his parents
encouraged him to cultivate an aptitude for drawing. During his undergraduate study at Brigham
Young University-Idaho he began seriously considering a career in the arts while benefiting from
the instruction and encouragement of great artists like Leon Parson, Matthew Geddes, and Albin
Veselka. He earned a bachelors degree in Studio Art in 2014. In 2019 Donnie began working
toward an MFA in oil painting at Academy of Art University, where he looks forward to
graduating in 2021. His work expresses his feelings for the landscape of his childhood home,
which he has recently been able to return back to and enjoy in a new light. He currently lives in
Idaho Falls, Idaho with his wife, Jamie, and one year old daughter McKinley.
