Shirley Tegan

Born in Salt Lake City, I moved to Southern Utah in 2016, built a home with a backdrop of wild Pinion Pines, Juniper Trees and large sandstone boulders. I have been an artist my entire life. Having an affinity with nature, an appreciation of wood has always captured my attention. Wood has soul. Much of my wood sculpture focuses on illusion, a sense of Tromp l’oeil (fool the eye). The wood sculptures read as supple and organic, visually sensuous throwing perception into question. Precise craftsmanship with attention to detail are critical elements in the execution of my sculpture.
