Sarah Martin

Bio

A contemporary artist with a studio practice that spans over 20 years, Sarah Martin studied Fine Arts at York University, Canada and immediately began representation at reputable galleries within Canada. As well as being collected by clients all over North America, her art has been featured extensively in HGTV design shows and is in many collections including The Hythe Resort, Vail; Sunshine Resort, Banff; Melrose Hotel, Washington DC; Hard Rock Hotel, Atlanta and the Ontario Archives, Canada to name a few.

Sarah artwork combines vintage photography and painting, bringing a contemporary edge to old images. Sarah’s work explores the concept of memory and uses photographs as connection points for a viewer's memory, aiding the viewer to feel a sense of nostalgia to an image or place. At times the photograph stands in contrast to the paint, other times the two seem to blend seamlessly into one another, blurring the lines between the two mediums.
